Updates of the Approval Process

September 2023

Our involvement in the approval process of Silvergate RSF started in September 2023, when several of our friends received a mass email that was soliciting signatures to help "stop a high density housing in a flood plain".

The email and their proposed letter to the RSF Board contained many misleading and incorrect statements and did not mention that the the project was for senior living. We were compelled to try to correct the information. That is why we wrote our own letter shown here to the RSF Board. 

As other members learned about the misleading opposition campaign, they wanted to join in our request to the Board. They quickly collected more than a hundred signatures in support of our letter. We delivered them to the RSF Board before the October Board meeting.

In the end of September, an another mass email from the opposition group presented additional misinformation about the project, again asking for support for its opposition.

October 2023

Several members spoke up in the Member input part of the October Board meeting both in favor and opposition of the project.

We created the first version of the Fact Sheet shown here and shared it with the RSF Board.

November and December 2023 

The member dialogue about Silvergate RSF continued the member input sections in subsequent Board meetings.

Covenant members can view videos of the Board meetings on the RSF Association site as explained here. Formal handling of the project proposal by the Art Jury or the Board continued to wait for the formal submission of the project plan.

May 2024

The plans for Silvergate RSF have been formally submitted to the Art Jury.  Several Covenant members have spoken in favor of Silvergate RSF in Board meetings (held at 10 am on the first Thursday of each month).
